Question
I had a job that paid as advertised in newspaper $1,500 a week until a criminal background check came back with extremely damaging false information that I have a felony conviction on my record.I don't know how many jobs has been lost because of this or how long it has been on record.I would like to sue for damages and lost income how do I start this process and do i have a case?I live in VA.

Answer
Since I don't practice in VA and therefore don't know VA law, I can only give you a general answer. First, you should consult with a local attorney.
I would imagine that you will have to jump through the hoops to get to the source of the false information, correct it and get an apology. Then, give your information to your employer. (Consult with the attorney first.)
