Civil Engineering/Maximum Distance Between Concrete Steel Post

Question
What is the Maximum Distance Between Concrete Steel Post and what size of reenforced steel bar should I use? We have just built a 3 floor concrete building using 16mm and 20mm rebar, 8 bars in concrete posts and 6 bars in beams with 4.4 meter beams between between posts and 1.2 meter beam extensions.

Now we want to build an extension with existing slabs and beams having steel extensions ready. here's  my MAIN QUESTION;

IF I extend the distance between posts to 4. 8 or 5 meters what SIZE of steel bars and how many in each beam do I need to use for structural safety taking in consideration in a few years I might want to extend the building up to 5 or 6 floors?

Answer
Hi Bill,

Your question is confusing- are you talking about concrete posts or steel posts? In any case, I cannot give design solutions over this forum due to liability reasons and in this case you need to give a lot more information to a structural engineer in your area who would be best placed to advise you properly. I hope you understand... and...
