Question
How we can calculate the load on a slab dead load and live load in a house

Answer
Hi Atiq,

You can work out the dead load by knowing the density and size of the structural members and internal walls, etc. For example, a 15mm thick RC slab will weigh 0.15X24=3.6 kN/m2, then say 50mm finishes will weigh about 1 kN/m2, servives and ceiling may total 0.5 kN/m2 and live loading will be around 2.5 kN/m2.

On average, the total weight of a house (dead + live) will be between 12 and 16 kN/m2 per floor, which includes walling, columns, etc.
