Hello Mr Khan
I am Deepthi a structural engineer, I wanted to know if a flat slab can be analysed using STAAD. If yes please let me know the proceedure. I have already tried using mesh but I was nit satisfied with the results. I will be very thankfull if I get an apt answer.

Hi Deepthi,

STAAD is not very good for flat slab design, but you can get approximate results by meshing the floor at least 8-10 elements in each direction.

It should be good for assessing appropriate thickness as the deflection limits can be checked quite accurately.

The best software for flat slabs is SAFE or RAPT.
