Civil Engineering/concentrated loads on an elevated slab

Question
I have an elevated slab supported by open web steel joists on 18" centers.  I need to install two heavy pieces of equipment on this slab.  The equipment weigh 8000 lbs each and each have six mounting feet distributing the load.  What are some ways to spread that load over the slab floor to avoid heavy concentrated loads on the slab?

Hi Richard,

Without knowing the spacing of the 6 feet it is difficult to give proper advice, but as a guide the best way is to install steel joists under the 6 feet so that point loads are changes to line loads that can span between the floor steel joists. The spreader joists shoule be at least 6" deep.
