Civil Engineering/cracks in footing

Question
I have observe some cracks not too much deep in footing near the dowels of column reinforcement. I thought these are due to not proper curing but i did that one also but still cracks are appearing in footing. Please tell me the reason of that one, thanks

Hi Saifullah,

You have not given me enough details to make a proper assessment but if they are minor surface cracks near the column starter bars, these could have been caused by disturbance of the bars after concrete had partially set, or due to plastic shrinkage. In either case, you should just fill them up with a cement/sand slurry and that should sort the problem out.
