Dear sir,
 I am working as a Quantity surveyor over here in Abu Dhabi. I am confused with Horizontal Stirrups for a bracket which is provided for tamping the hollow core slab. No Much details are available. I will be thankful to your answer.

Hi Prakash,

Horizontal stirrups are normally provided for brackets and corbels to resisit the tensile forces induced by the resolution of forces by triangulation. In other words, the gravity forces are resisted by a sloping compression strut within the bracket, and in order for that to be stable, you need a horizontal tensile tie back towards the support.
