Question Dear Sir,
1.I would like to clarify.while I'm doing modelling in etabs,I'm not providing any kind of freedom to end of column joining with slab or beams..Is this right?
2.while providing peripheral beams to the flat slab design ,should I need to satisfy the ratio (l/d) same as that of other beams?.or I can provide a lower depth say 40 cm all over the peripheral?
Answer Hi Ravi,
1. You can consider them fixed, but with property modifiers to simulate cracked sections for purposes of sway/deflection.
2. That depends on whether the peripheral beams are supporting the slab or vice-versa. If the latter, then there is no need to consider depth for deflection criteria.
