Question
Dear Sir,
thanx for previous answers.
While doing a G+5 Buiding with a basement ,I wanted to start the lift from ground floor only as  the lift area obstructs the architecture as desired by the architect.Is it possible by providing beam and platform in the ground level.?thanx so much,,,

Hi Ravi,

You can start from the GF, but you will still need a 1.5m (approx) deep pit for the lift over-shoot and also you will have problems with transfering lateral shear from the 5 storeys (wind/seismic loading) down to the foundations, unless you do some X-bracing, etc, in the basement floor, or use the GF to transfer shear across to the basement walls.
