which would be the better way of assumption for the support conditon while modelling either pinned or fixed?

Hi Ravikumar,

This depends on a few variables- whether it is high-rise (in this case either is fine as it makes little difference to overall stability), or whether it is  portal frame (in this case it makes a big difference to stability/moment distribution).

The 2 extremes are: if on a big raft, that can be considered fixed. If on small isolated footings on weak ground, that can be considered pinned. Then there are a range of conditions in between that may be considered partially fixed.
