Question
Dear Sir,
1.How we can design a post tensioned slab .what are the criteria in design to be followed?
2.is it possible to design post tensioned slab in safe?
thanx so much

Answer
Hi Ravi,

Post-tensioning is simply to apply pre-stress after casting & curing concrete, and prestressed concrete principles are simple- using very high yield tendons to those areas of beams or slabs that have tension zones, so that concrete remains in compression.

The subject is too long to explain in detail here, but you can study it one line at:

The latest version of SAFE (v12) does include design for prestressed concrete, as do other software such as RAPT, ADAPT and PROKON.

However, before you start using software, you should always understand the principles of how to analyse and design by hand calculations.
