Question

R Shape
It's required to design "R" letter shape by reinforced concrete How can I design this? I want to know also the statically system (structural system)? The total loads on the "R" Shape is only (200 kg/m^2 Live load)+ own wight or the dead load). The design will consist of 3 main elements 1-Arch for the upper curve  2-Vertical column 3-inclined column (preferred to be link member).
The height of the vertical column is 5 m , other dimensions can be reasonable assumed to give the required shape, All supports are hinged, see the attach image.... Thank you very much

Answer
Hi Mado,

The structural system will be as follows, if only gravity loading is considered (i.e. no lateral wind or seismic loading): the inclined column will have only axial compression, the arch will have compression along the bottom half and tension along the top, as well as some local bending.
The vertical column will have axial compression throughout and bending which will be at a maximum at the hinge joint with inclined column. You can get an exact analysis by computer software or an approximate analysis by considering the resultant weight/loading on the arch acting verically some 2/3rd distance from the vertical column.
