Question
Sir,
 i want to place a column of a proposed frame structure adjascent to a  load bearing wall of an existing building.now in this condition, it is not possible to provide a symmetric isolated footing for that column since it is overlapping with the existing structure's footing  which type of footing shall i provide for that colunmn, so that it does not disturb the footing of the adjascent wall?

Hi Amit,

For this, you can provide an eccentric foundation and counter-balance the out-of-balance moment either by gravity (mass concrete) or by a stabilising ground beam connected to another foundation of the new building. See also my earlier answer below:
