Question
Dear Sir, I am Jijo JOhn working in Muscat as a Quantity Surveyor. I have one doubt is that in BOQ one item description, suppose some demolition is there but unit they mentioned like 'ITEM' and one amount they given, My doubt is wether the 'ITEM' can be remeasured or not? and What is the difference between Lumpsum and Item.

Hi Jijo,

Any amounts mentioned against "Item" or "Lump Sum" are usually not re-measured as the prices are fixed. All the QS needs to ascertain is that the work was completed in accordance with the specifications. So effectively there is no difference between the two methods of description.
