Question
Dear Sir,

Good day. During modelling a flat plate slab in etabs I found many of my edge beams near the bottom stories failed(become red)for DL+LL+Wind(factored) and also for envelop of load cases.
The things I considered a)rigid diaphragm for wind, b)All bottom supports hinged, c)no modifier at section properties of Beams(though it is a flat plate system), d)panel loads as per wall arrangement as superimposed DL.What possible cause will fail my structure. I shall waiting for your judgement.

Regards.

Answer
Hi Waliur,

This is very difficult to answer without reviewing the model. One thing you should do is use semi-rigid diaphragm and also ensure that line constraints are invoked and auto-mesh is invoked for the slabs. Then re-run the model and see if that chages your results.
