Question
Why don't we have a #12 (1.5 in diameter) bar.
Similarly there is no #13,#15,#16,#17 bars in the list of ASTM Standard Reinforcing Bars.

Answer
Hi Jawad,

Even in BS, there are only sizes of 6, 8, 10, 12, 16, 20, 25, 32 and 40mm. This is because you can use a combination of different sizes to achieve the result you are looking for.

If you had all the different sizes, the manufacturing and storage problems would be enormous and mistakes could be made when selecting diameters on site.
