Hello
Sir where we use dynamic Analysis and what is purpose and advantage of dynamic analysis. means in high seismic zone area and any where ?

Hi Hamood,

You only need to use dynamic analysis for buildings that are dynamically sensitive- such as ones with very long spans or ones that are very slender (say height/width ratio more than about 4) or ones that do not have a uniform and symmetrical layout for each story, or due to a combination of these factors. By doing dynamic analysis, you will determine forces and deflections due to the higher modes of vibration, rather than just the primary modes, which are all that static analysis does. Dynamic analysis is particularly important for wind and earthquake loading. Here is a quote from Wikipedia:

"A static load is one which does not vary. A dynamic load is one which changes with time. If it changes slowly, the structure's response may be determined with static analysis, but if it varies quickly (relative to the structure's ability to respond), the response must be determined with a dynamic analysis."
