Question
How to design an eccentric footing?

Answer
Hi Pal,

I have answered this before, if you had browsed my previous Q&A:

Question: Can i have image %26 calculation sheet with example for eccentric footings. I want complete calculation of eccentric footing step by step also with the images.

Answer:

I cannot send you an image, but the following will help you.

This is a common problem for say a boundary column and you need to design it as an eccentrically loaded pad footing, which will have high pressure at one and (near boundary) and low to zero pressure at the other end. In order to avoid tension, you may have to extend the footing with a ground-tie beam to either another pad further away from the boundary, or else to a counterweight pad say 1-2 meters from the column.

Try this link, which will give you some guidance of how to design eccentric footing:

or
