Question
Eccentric FOOTING
Eccentric FOOTING
Sir, Please find attached calc's for design of Eccentric footing. please guide me  wheather i am leading right direction or not?

Actually  max pressure  exceed the SBC of soil. shall i increase footing area to get rid of this Problem, or can i design for this max. Pressure?
please help me,

Thank's,
Sirisha

Answer
Hi Sirisha,

I am sorry but the text is not readable, but I note that your pressure sketch under the footing pad seems to be incorrect, as you should have higher pressure under the column.

If the pressure is only 10-15% higher than SBC, then you can accept it. However, if you want to improve the design, you can make the base trapozoidal in shape on plan, with the wider section under the column. You can also try and balance the eccentric moment by incorporating a ground (strap) beam from the eccentric pad to another one nearby?
