Answer
Hi,

You start by working out the loads, as per my earlier Q & A:

Question:
Sir,I have to submit a minor project on design of high rise building .how the dead load is estimated for design of building structural parts ? according to Indian standard code

Answer:

Fot calculating overall building loads/weight, you need to assess the self (dead) weight of the structure by calculating the volume of concrete/finishes/internal walling, fascades, etc,  and multiplying with the densities or weights from catalogues, and you need to apply the imposed (live) loads in accordance with usage and the applicable standards/codes. For example, for an office building the imposed live load may be about 2.5 kN/m2
