Question
Assalamualiakum Sir!
Plz sir help me regarding a very major problem..
Sir am doing my Final year Project..My project Topic is "Comparison of RC buildings With and without Base isolation"..The height of building is 95ft n it is located in seismic zone 3...we have only done Static analysis not Dynamic one..is it satisfactory??UBc also state that dynamic analysis is necessary for the buildings which are higher than 65ft.....now our final presentatn is very near...plz sir tell me if the question arrises why u have not done dynamic analysis then how should i defend???
I will very thankfull for your help..

Answer
Hi Fiza,

Strictly speaking, you should do dynamic amalysis for both options, but if you are running out of time you could justify not doing this because what you are doing is a COMPARISION. So long as the static analysis parameters are the same for both options, your comparision of base shears should be a valid outcome.
