How thick should a pad foundation be if the load is 750kn and the allowable bearing pressure of the soil is 210kn/m2.

Hi Kaye,

This depends on whether there is also bending moment or not, and also on the grade of concrete and the size of the column, so that you can check the punching shear and momnet capacities.

Based on the limited info you ahve given me, the pad will need to be between 2m to 2.2m square and the depth between 0.4m to 0.6m, depending on the variables mentioned above.
