Question
Dear Sir,

Please explaing me what is difference with reinforcement concrete and fiber concrete, and what is the reason for using of fiber concrete instead of RC concrete.

Hi Athula,

FRC works by preventing micro-cracks within concrete and significantly increases the tensile strength of concrete. However, it is not used much for members that are subjected to high tensile stresses, such as long-span or heavily loaded beams.

The advantage of FRC (especially if non-ferrous fibres are used) is that the structure is much more durable (no corrosion of rebar) and easy to cast as the fibres are added in the concrete mixer. It is particularly useful for grade slabs.
