Need to know spacer bar shall be placed at what distance? please make a mention of code specifying above particular requirement.

Hi Rohan,

There is no specific code specification for the spacing of spacers (bar or block. This really depends on the diameter of the bar and its orientation, so as to prevent excessive deflection and displacement whilst pouring concrete. (smaller diameters in slabs will require closer spacing, and vice versa).

The main code stipulation is the tolerance in bar/concrete cover, which is usually around +/- 5mm, although this may need to be smaller for sensitive structures such as shallow cantilevers and shallow corbels (where small change in lever arm can make a big difference in bending/shear capacity).
