sir, i want to know about the lapping design of a beam. length of beam 20m and resting this beams upon three columns,side span 5.25m/each side ,centre 8m and one side1.5m cantilever.pls give the details for steels and lapping design of top and bottom bars

Hi Sunil,

You basically have to do the analysis with all load combinations and design the rebar to curtail as per the bending moment diagram- main top rebar at supports (extending about 1/4 span in each direction) and for the cantilever main rebar for full span. For span, the main rebar is at the bottom, extending to near the supports, with 50% going through the supports.
