Hi Kireeti,

What you have shown in the picture are not piles and pile caps, but columns and column heads, or what are called "drop panels" for flat-slab design/construction, which do not require down-stand beams.

This is a well established method of design and construction- the materials quantities (concrete/rebar) will be more than an equivalent beams/slabs construction, but then you have savings in formwork and headroom, and can have the services circulation much easier.
