Question
What is finite element modelling of a composite deep beam? What are the steps to adopt if one wants to use it as project topic?

Answer
Dear Joseph

1- What is a composite deep beam? you mean a mix of reinforced concrete slabs and steel profiles?  Please explain me to know!

2- This topic needs a general knowledge about finite element, also a specific knowledge about structural finite element, you will need to know a software like Ansys for your finite element solution.

3-  A  literature study about this topic and similar ones will help you to know the issues.

4- you will need to identify the extends of your problem and your method of approach: i.e. Are you doing a statistical approach using different characteristics and loadings?

5- you will need to identify where are you planning to go and what would be the effects of your research result on engineering practice.

6- A summary about the importance of your research will help you to attract motivations and help toward your research.
