Question
sir,
i want to know the concept of Strain Rosette

Answer
Dear Kireeti

Please take a look at this link:

http://www.efunda.com/formulae/solid_mechanics/mat_mechanics/strain_gage_rosette

When measuring strain and stress on a material under loading a single strain gage with a definite orientation angle can give us only the stress and strain in one direction and you cant actually know about the strain-stress situation in other directions. To have a complete information through measurement you will need to have at least 3  strain gage in 3 independent angles. This arrangement is called Strain Rosette. This arrangement will give you information to build your Stress / Strain Mohr circle and then to be able to derive the stress or strain situation in all direction and specially your extreme state of stress or strain ( axial or shear).

Please done hesitate to ask further .
