dear sir
i would like to ask you about the design and analysis of tall building structure -say 30 story with 4 basements, i start modeling the structure using etabs, so i am wondering whether i should include the basements in the whole model of the structure ? and how could i calculate the base shear force? and where should i apply it ? in any level ?
another question: how can i define the connection between the shear wall of the basement and the slabs of the basement?
i hope i could find a practical reference for the design and analysis of tall building with basements

Hi Farah,

Yes, you should model the basements and the base will be at the bottom but for lateral laoding you can define the bottom story as GFL or B1.
