Dear sir

All columns of particular structure rest on a 4-pile groups.
Is it required to provide capping beams to this structure

Priyantha,

No, unless you need the ground beams to support blockwork walls, or to restrain the pile cals laterally. Please do not confuse the terminology "capping" with beams that span between pile caps. The latter beams are called ground beams or grade beams, whilst capping beams are like pile caps but uni-directional- they are like a pile cap for a line of piles.

So, a 3 or 4 pile group will have pile caps over each group and then you may or may not have ground beams spanning betwen them. See this:
