Question
To calculate the volume of the trapezoidal concrete footing we use the tapered section volume as h/3(A1+A2+SQRT(A1A2)) . what is the derivation of this formula ?

Answer
Dear Kajari

This is not an exact formulation . It comes from an average of 3 parameters A1, A2 and a geometrical average of A1 and A2 which is a good approximation of the volume of a cut pyramid. The exact formulation can be derived by geometrical similarity.
