Civil Engineering/Slope cracks

Slope Crack
Slope Crack

Hi there,

I just noticed a manufactured slope in the community I live in that has a crack line all the way around the bottom of the top tier of the slope. The slope is very steep. The dirt near the crack line seems to be crumbling. I'm attaching pics of the cracking and the actual slope. Any idea of what is going on..slope failing?? Advice on who should be looking into what is going on??

Hi Susan,

I am not an expert in soils, but your observation is good and the damage to the netting as seen in your picture could result in larger slope failure. I suggest you alert the West Hills management and also the local police, so that they can take appropriate action.
