Question
beam and lift
beam and lift
dear sir, I have found that the beam that passes through RCC wall   (lift wall)mostly failed in shear even using large width. What will be the solution? I have attachedthe figure too.

Thanking you!

Answer
Dear Niranjan

I think it is due to short length of the beam.I can suggest you to provide a moment hinge to control the shear due to lateral loading. A moment hinge for a RCC beam is provided by making a X crossing the bottom an up rods.
