Good day Sir. I am design B+GF+1F building, it is an ell (L) shape building in plan, outer ell dimension are 42m and 30m. should I provide a Joint from basement Upward, and which type of foundation will serve. thank you and best regard

Hi Abdurrazak,

If you insulate the roof slab against solar gain and there are no continuous/brittle partitions inside the building I would say you do not need an expansion joint.

As for the foundations that depends on the ground conditions and ground water level. If the basement needs to be water-tight I would suggest a basement slab around 10-12 inches thick with integrated deeper strip footings under the basement walls and integrated pad thicker pad footings under internal columns.

For a single story building be careful about flotation problems if the ground water is high during the wet season.
