Question
hi there,

Could you please define "buildability" for me in words that a layman would understand?

Many thanks

Cathy

Answer
Hi Cathy,

Buildability is defined as "the extent to which the design of a building facilitates ease of construction subject to the overall requirements for the completed building".

In other words, it's the degree of the design simplicity which makes the construction process simpler, faster, and efficient. However, as you may notice from the definition above, sometimes, the building has certain requirements which may conflict with the Buildability concept and necessitate the acceptance of less than "good" Buildability.

Hope this helps!
