Question -
Can you list a few buildability issues you may have with the construction of a distribution warehouse of around 2,000 sq m.
If the construction is fairly standard i.e. steel portal frame, cavity wall, internal space for offices on two floors. Are there likely to be many if any issues of buildability?
My problem is that defining the possible issues in the first place.
Kind regards,

Answer -
At the outset, and from a macro-level perspective, you may want to consider the most suitable procurement method for this type of construction. Personally, I recommend the design-build option for this type of projects.
Second, you need to assess the site conditions, i.e. storage, access, utilities, etc. Third, you want to take a close look at the extent of the design standardization, rationalization, and repetition of elements.
Of an equal importance, to ensure the availability of the specified materials and skilled labours.
In addition, you need to make sure that the drawings and specifications are clear enough so that the design intent is fully realized and implemented to avoid possible interruptions/disruptions to the construction process.
Hope this helps.

AnswerDear Anthony,
Unfortunately not. However, if you have a certain inquiry about something in particular, please let me know.
I must say however that usually there is no standard recipe associated with the project's type. As you may know, no two projects are alike even if they share the same type. Therefore, Buildability review, although addresses fairly the same issues, differes depending on the particulars of each project.
Nevertheless, what I have highlighted in my previous email, if implemented at the right stage of the design process, should result in more constructable design and consequently, more buildable and productive operation.
