HOW ARE CONSTUCTION CRANES LIFTED TO THE TOP OF BUILDINGS UNDER CONSRTUCTION?  ARE THE ANCHORED TO THE FLOOR BELOW OR ARE THE ANCHORED TO THE STREET LEVEL?

Hi Howard,

Most cranes for multistorey buildings are so-called self-climbing tower cranes. They are always supported on foundations on the ground, but they have lateral supports every say 5-10 floors from the building structure. Most cranes are placed along the outside of the building, but sometimes they may be placed inside a lift-shaft. Looking from outside, this may look like they are supported on the building, but even these are normally founded on the ground.
