QUESTION: Hi Arshad
What is the full calculations for a petrol station using a  suitable foundation with an internal and external load. Also given is an allowable bearing pressure and total load from colmn.Assume numbers for calculations. Thanks
ANSWER: Hi Said,

You have not given me enough info to respond, but in any case I do not do complete designs over this forum. If you have a particular technical question, I will be happy to respond.

QUESTION: Hi Arshad can you describe the main functions of a method of statement for any sequence of operations for a pump canopy and shop. Also for a showroom with an internal column load of 500KN and external column load of 230KN on each column sketch suitable foundations showing approximate dimensions. thanks a lot

Answer
Hi Said,

I am sorry but I cannot do sketches over this forum. For the column foundations, you need to know what the moment is as well at the base of the column. If that is zero, you can design the area of the base by dividing the total laod by the safe bearing capacity of the soil. Whatever size of base you get, make it about 0.2-0.25 times that for the depth/thickness, and provide some rebar at the bottom.

I hope that helps!

Kind regards,

Arshad
