Civil Engineering/Eccentric Load at Foundation

Question
Mr. Khan-  I need to do an eccentric load check on a residential foundation at a point load.  The floor construction is slab on grade with 15" w x 24" deep turned down slab edges.
I need to do the eccentric load check at a 4x6 post supporting 13,349 lbs with the post located adjacent to the edge of the slab.  Allowable soil pressure = 1,000 psi

Thank you,  Greg Gill Architect

Answer
Hi Greg,

I normally do not design over this forum, but if the figures you have quoted are correct then it's a no-brainer- there will be no problems. However, I would question your soil bearing capacity- seems to be too high by a factor of 10 to 20!

Hope that helps!

Kind regards,

Arshad.
