Question
Respected Dear Arshad Khan,
i was searching some solution and luckily found your contact through ALLEXPERTS.COM.

QUESTION
Existing Building is a single story show room with a roof with Beam- Block arrangement. where Blocks are reinforced hollow blocks. This Existing Roof will become the proposed first floor if it can take imposed load   of 5kn/m2 in addition to wall at first floor level supporting roof. this proposed wall  will be at 1 meter distance inside from the existing parapet wall.  Question is either it will work for all this loading? If no what is the solution without closing the retail shop below. for example putting support below with steel beams at the midspan of secondary beams supporting Hollow blocks. the other solution is not to touch the existing Roof and build a new timber floor above it supported by beams laid wall to wall with 14 meter clear span.  I understand that this  question cannot be explained without drawings. How to send drawings please.
thanks
Really I appreciate this contribution by you and other experts on the site.

Answer
Hi Syed,

Much as I would like to help you, I cannot do such assignments over this website- firstly because this ius very time consuming and difficult to do without drawings, etc, but also due to liability and safety issues. I recommend that you get a qualified/experienced structural engineer to inspect your property and design an appropriate solution for extension.
