Question
I am a student of architecture. Can you please tel me if i can have a room of 24m by 15m with no columns in between? Only along the longer side i.e 24m side at 3m spacing. And two more floors above this one. And can you also tel me approximate column and beam sizes?

Hi Manjari,

Yes, you can but you will need downstand beams of about 1.2m depth spanning 15m from the columns at 3 m spacings, and then you can have a 125mm thick slab spanning the 3m centre beams.

The columns will probably be about 400mm by 600mm, but this depends on the applied loading and the lateral stability system.
