Question
How do you provide a Layout that will allow you to check the accuracy of the placement of the columns after they have been erected on let's say a 20' grid. Additionally layouts for walls, sprinklers etc.how should you verify the layouts are correct and can be checked as the work continues?

Answer
Hello Brett,

Designing a layout for self checking can be a very complex design depending upon the situation. But let me assume that it is a simple one storey building square or rectangular in size then the job is very simple. Once the columns are erected and if you need to check it then you have the drawing with you and assuming you have full accessibility to the building you can easily locate the column on the ground and with simple tape you can find out about it. For complex building walkthrough and use of some survey equipments can help. Same goes with the walls and other things. You need to study the drawings first and know where the things should be and then you go to building and find out with simple instruments or walkthrough whether it is there or not.

Hope this helps.
