Civil Engineering/footing design

Question
I have a problem of designing a column at the boundary of the site and footing design to be done for the same. There is no column in line with this column and i can't design it as a combined footing.I request you to tell me how to design that footing.And i wanted to know what is the meaning of ground tie beam with pad, and also how to design that. and also counterweight pad.

Hi Meenakshi,

It is difficult to explain that through this medium, but if you put some key words in google, you will get some guidelines. Basically a tie beam acts to counter balance the out-of-balance moment caused by a colum on the edge of a pad (or isolated) footing.
