Question
how is integral calculus used in civil engineering?

Answer
Hello John,

Integral calculus is widely used in civil engineering. It is a very useful mathematical function used to solve unknowns e.g. deflection of the members(Beam etc), slope of the deflected member, bending moments in it. It is also used to solve many complex problems like in plate theories, Stability problems etc. Many braches of civil engineering that is solely based on mathematics use it widely e.g. wave propagation.

In summary it is used to get a final formula to solve a problem, same as in any other engineering field.
