Civil Service - Postal Service Jobs

Expert: Nicholas P Previsich - 8/31/2000

Question
I would like to know the exactly what you need to know and do to get a job with the postal service. You see so many ads for jobs but they`re nothing more than people wanting money. Thanks!

Wendy

Answer
Hi, Wendy. Most post offices maintain a bulletin board for announcement of local vacancies as well as notification of test requirements and dates for certain positions. As the holiday season approaches, many offices hire a lot of temporary help; this is a good way to get your foot in the door! I maintain a list of Federal and state job sites (including the USPS) at this URL: http://pages.prodigy.net/nick.kay/nick.kay.htm . They do announce some vacancies nationally on their site but the vast majority seem to come from those bulletin boards.

Hope this helps- good luck! Nick
