Question
Do you know which guitar Clapton used on which songs on his recordings? I know he used a wide variety but I'm only interested in which guitars he used on the original recordings of 'White Room' and 'Sunshine of Your Love'. I suspect it was his SG.

You are correct,sir!! Steve, very interesting story about Clapton's original SG...it seems his then buddy George Harrison GAVE it to Eric, a psychodelic one of several that George had commissioned from a group of four  artists who called themselves "The Fool". He used this axe all thru the Cream era of his career, then loaned it to Todd rundgren, who then sold it. Grand Funk Railroad used this guitar to record "Inside Looking Out".If you'll type in a search engine  "Eric Clapton's guitars", you will most likely find the same story I did, with 60's pics of EC and various artists in concert using this SG

Have been a dedicated Clapton fan since he was in Cream,followed his work from 1967 till present. The best by far guitarist ever,listen to the Original "Layla",when he played with Legendary Duane Allman in a band called Derek and the Dominos-what you think is a bird at the end of the song is Clapton's expertise with the guitar, or a song called "Let it Rain" from the album (CD) 461 Ocean Blvd,for example,the riffs on his trademark black Stratocaster are unbelievable . If you think Jimmy Page or Jimi Handrix is a bigger star the Clapton, think about this: Clapton was asked to play the licks on The Beatles' "MY Guitar Gently Weeps",had played with Steve Winwood( who himself made a comeback back in the '80's) in a band named Blind Faith-"Hey Mr. Fantasy",etc. Who else can say that thy've been in rock and roll for over 40 years, and had an affair with George Harrison's wife? How cool is that
