Question
I am considering selling my beloved Buffet clarinet (serial number 133672) because of financial woes. I no longer play, but the instrument has a great deal of sentimental value to me. I don't want to sell it unless I know I am getting a fair price for it. Do you have any thoughts on how much I can expect to get for it? It is in good condition with no flaws that I can see, but it would need new pads, etc. Thanks for any information you can provide.

Answer
Hello Harriet....Buffet r-13 clarinets hold their value better than other clarinet brands because they are considered to be the beast for classical music...If it needs a repad, this can be done for several hundred dollars and offer the new owner years of good service. Check the prices on Ebay  SELLING SITE...These are the prices you are competing against...Some think the 1970-77 r-13 s are particularly good because of the wood used during this period....ANYTHING BETWEEN $1300-1600 could be expected...Cheers.....JACK
