Clarinet/Buffet Crampon

Question
Hello,

I have a Buffet Crampon with serial number K10692.  My son is in high school and I was considering having this instrument repaired for him.  I was wondering if this would be a good instrument for him and if this is worth having repaired.  I am not familiar with clarinet models, except that Buffet are know to be a good brand.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Answer
Hello Heather,  I believe your clarinet is a Buffet E-13 model, reguarded as a good intermediate level clarinet...You are correct about Buffet clarinets and their [good] reputation...Your clarinet would be woth  a repair...or upgrade to  an  R=13 model..[pro-level]...These can be purchased on EBAY for far less than new and one of these instruments [overhauled] would give your son an instrument with no need for further upgrades....Cheers   JACK
