Question
When was the clarinet invented?  There seems to be some dispute as to whether Denner invented it 1690.  If not Denner, who invented the clarinet and when?

Answer
Hello,
This question is a bit too broad for this forum.  The clarinet, like most modern instruments developed over time.  The clarinet has it's roots in the middle ages.  I have also read that Denner invented what we now call the clarinet.  Pads were added in the 1800's.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clarinet#History Has a pretty good right up.

I hope this helps.

Thanks,

Guy
