Claris Homepage/Can not change Home Page
Expert: mrwebber - 5/27/2002
QuestionHi Mr. Webber,
A couple of days back, I accessed a site www.globesearch.com. After that, it has virtually taken control of my PC. It has set itself as the Home Page, I guess by making some changes in my Registry, since I am not able to switch back through the Tools -> Options Menu of Internet Explorer. I guess, this s the tactic of these Web site owners to increase the number of hits to their site, inorder to increase the advertisement revenue.
Please, give me the procedure for completely eliminating the changes made by this site. Imean, which all Registery entries and files, I need to modify, so that it no longer remains as the Home Page.
many thanks
Rohan
AnswerHi Rohan,
Although this is not really my area of expertise, I'll still try to help.
If you have already tried the normal means of changing your home (startup) page...
for instance:
try to change your home page in the Internet Options dialog box
(on the Tools menu), type an address in the Address box, and
the following buttons should be available:
Use Current
Use Default
Use Blank
If you reset your home page to the Web site that you want in Internet Options,
but after you restart your computer, your home page selection has again
been changed to a different Web site again -- then you may need to read
this article (link shown below) from Microsoft Product Support Services.

If that doesn't help, you can try your question again with one of the
more knowlegible (explorer) experts on AllExperts.com:

Hope this helps,
